Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a SEND Support Assistant in Newcastle for a 1:1 role with a Year 1 pupil with Autism in a primary school setting. The role is long-term and full-time, suitable for someone eager to make a difference in a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism.
• Experience or interest in behaviour support and SEN settings.
• Calm, patient, and consistent approach to challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Working 1:1 throughout the school day with learning, routines, and emotional regulation.
• Helping the child manage sensory overload and anxiety using calming strategies.
• Support with transitions and routines to reduce challenges.
• De-escalation and boundary setting to prevent behaviours from escalating.
• Support the class teacher while keeping main focus on the pupil.
