Brothers of Charity Services Ireland offers a variety of residential, day, respite, assessment, and clinical services to individuals with varying degrees of intellectual disability. Many of the people we support have additional needs, including autism, behaviours that challenge, and physical or sensory disabilities. Services and supports are provided to over 6,500 people, and their families, throughout Counties Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Roscommon, Tipperary, Wexford and Wat

Role:

The role of the Team Leader is a pivotal role in managing the day to day delivery of a Day/Residential service in conjunction with the Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager. The successful candidate must provide leadership in the development of the service in line with Personal Outcomes Measures, HIQA standards, new directions and future service requirements.

Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. Qualifications:

The recognised professional qualification for social care is as follows:

• HETAC/NQAI BA (HONS) in Applied Social Studies (Disability)/Social Care.

• Candidates must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Register at CORU on or before 30th November 2025. View approved qualifications on https://www.coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/education/approved-qualifications/social-care-workers/

• A management qualification is also desirable or a commitment to obtain one.

Experience:

The successful candidate must have experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. Understanding of an integrated day programme in a residential setting is an advantage. Understanding of community networking, supporting individuals to partake in their local community, goal setting and programme implementation, is essential. Working with people with complex medical needs, physical disabilities, dementia, challenging behaviour and mental health is an advantage.

Skills:

Candidates must demonstrate leadership. Experience in leading, managing, rostering and supporting staff teams is essential. Candidates must have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms and co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy. Report writing and record keeping is an essential part of the post. IT skills and experience in the use of multimedia technology are a requirement of the post.

Working Hours:

39 per week based on a 7 day duty roster. Contracted hours of work are liable to change over seven days to meet the requirements of the service. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

An On Call commitment is an essential requirement of this post

23 days per annum. Appropriate service-related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively.

Remuneration:

Department of Health Social Care Leader salary scale (01/03/2025) € 56,351x 6 increments - € 65,807 per annum.

Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and sleep-in when worked.

A probationary period of 9 months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.

This role is permanent, full-time and pensionable.
