Datadog is seeking a Staff Engineer for Data Semantics to steer the technical direction of a team responsible for semantic knowledge powering telemetry across the platform. You’ll stay hands-on while guiding architecture and delivering scalable infrastructure.

You’ll collaborate with engineering and product partners to define standards, advance schema evolution, and improve interoperability across Datadog’s observability stack.

• Extensive experience designing, operating, and scaling large-scale data infrastructure or distributed systems.
• Staff-level impact demonstrated via technical leadership and cross-team influence.
• Strong communicative abilities to align engineers and product teams without direct authority.
• Product-minded mindset linking platform investments to customer outcomes.

Responsabilités

• Lead the Data Semantics team’s technical direction while hands-on in design and delivery.
• Build and scale semantic infrastructure bridging OpenTelemetry and Datadog telemetry.
• Drive platform initiatives on schema evolution and telemetry standardization.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to define standards and deliver platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, guidance, and career development.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident resolution for complex services.
