GE Vernova seeks a Senior Wind Hub Technician to support turbine operations at the hub sites in TX. Daily hands-on work spans electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, with emphasis on safety, quality and warranty repairs.

You will collaborate with Site Lead to meet contract obligations, troubleshoot complex issues, document work, and mentor peers, with travel and rotating shifts as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years wind troubleshooting experience; 1+ year in EHS/SQC/lead role or 6+ years wind troubleshooting.
• Ability to travel up to 100% and lift up to 50 lbs, climb towers up to 300 ft daily.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet schedule requirements.

Job Description Summary

The Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The role is critical and active, maintaining optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repair. The technician partners with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines, ensuring alignment with GE excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations and activities daily, including any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator.
• Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts.
• Read, understand, and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
• Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes, regulations, and applicable compliance requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines.
• Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
• Effectively perform diagnostic analysis and generate a plan for timely resolution.
• Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
• Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
• Mentor peers as directed by the manager.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
• Minimum of 4 years of wind troubleshooting experience, with at least 1 year in EHS, SQC, or lead role.
• OR Minimum of 6 years of wind troubleshooting experience.
• OR Minimum of 3 years of wind troubleshooting experience AND a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Eligibility Requirements

• Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.
• Ability to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
• Meet and maintain manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs., including required gear.
• Ability and willingness to work in various environments such as industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities.
• Effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations.
• Take initiative and work without direct supervision.
• Flexible to work rotating shift schedules, on‑call per site needs, and occasional overnights.

Desired Characteristics

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field.
• Technical certification in wind energy or electrical/electronic field.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm.
• Wind turbine experience.
• Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
• Experience using hydraulic power tools.
• Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.

Location

This is not a remote position. The work location includes all wind sites within Hub TX 16. All sites within the hub are assignment locations.

Pay

For U.S. based positions, the base pay range is $40.72–$48.44 per hour.
