Job summary

Algolia is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Infrastructure as a Service team and shape a cloud-native production platform. You will help design cloud foundations, automate infrastructure, and enable scalable Kubernetes deployments with strong guardrails for security, reliability, and cost visibility.

You will collaborate across Cloud, Platform Engineering, FinOps, and Security, mentor engineers, participate in on-call rotations, and drive durable, repeatable infrastructure

Qualifications

• Experience with production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS or GCP.
• Deep Kubernetes knowledge including cloud dependencies and operations.
• Strong IaC and automation skills (Terraform, Python/Go or equivalents).
• Solid Linux, networking, distributed systems and production operations knowledge.
• Platform mindset: design for engineers who consume what you build.
• Awareness of cloud cost drivers and treating cost as an engineering constraint.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evolution of Cloud Baseline across providers (identity, networking, security, cost visibility).
• Automate cloud infrastructure foundations to support many Kubernetes clusters.
• Drive complex initiatives like environment standardisation and upgrade strategies.
• Ensure foundations and guardrails scale to large workloads without impacting customer experience.
• Treat platform as a product with reusable modules and self-service workflows.
• Build automated guardrails for security, reliability, and safe change management.
• Improve efficiency via capacity planning, rightsizing, autoscaling, and cost governance.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for fleet-scale analysis and documentation.
• Mentor engineers and raise infrastructure design quality across the team.
• Collaborate with Infra, Security, FinOps and Eng to deliver high-impact platforms.
