Harmattan AI is seeking a senior hardware engineer to own end-to-end electronics design for rugged, production-grade PCB assemblies used in autonomous defense systems. You will design mixed-signal and RF boards, manage BOMs, and ensure manufacturability from concept to mass production.

You will collaborate with embedded software and mechanical teams, qualify PCB manufacturers, and drive NPI transitions while maintaining rigorous documentation and compliance with EMI/EMC requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and shipping complex PCBs for production.
• Strong schematic, layout, bring-up discipline with cost/manufacturability focus.
• Ability to bridge hardware and firmware in a small team.

Responsabilités

• Schematic Design - Design complete schematics for mixed-signal and RF boards, from power to digital and RF sections.
• PCB Layout & Routing - Lead board placement and routing with signal integrity, EMC, RF constraints (6-8 layer layout, controlled impedance, ground planes, RF traces).
• Component Selection & BOM Optimisation – Select components with cost, availability, and reliability in mind; drive BOM cost reduction for mass production.
• Hardware Bring-up & Debug - Lead board bring-up and debug issues with oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and other bench equipment; write bring-up scripts when needed.
• EMC & RF Compliance - Address EMC challenges; ensure signal integrity and proper RF performance (antenna impedance matching and power levels).
• Collaboration with Embedded SW - Define hardware/software interfaces; support firmware bring-up.
• Collaboration with Mechanical - Ensure PCB integration into enclosures (connectors, mounting, thermal, shielding).
• Supplier & Manufacturing Ramp-up - Qualify PCB manufacturers and assembly houses; support DFM/DFA reviews for production; manage NPI transitions.
• Documentation - Maintain schematics, layout files, test procedures, and hardware specs.
