Job summary

Liberty Mutual is seeking a Senior Underwriter to independently underwrite energy accounts (oil & gas, pipelines, power, renewables) within delegated authority across North America. You will manage brokers and clients, assess exposures with data and modelling, and set terms and reinsurance needs.

You will provide portfolio analytics to inform pricing and marketing plans, maintain broker relationships, and collaborate across claims, actuarial, engineering and legal teams while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
• 2.5+ years (often 3+) of progressive underwriting experience.
• CPCU or professional insurance designation.
• Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks across the scope.
• Must define and implement underwriting processes and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite energy accounts independently within delegated authority.
• Source and underwrite profitable energy business with brokers/clients.
• Assess technical exposures using loss histories, engineering data, and modelling.
• Set terms, limits, deductibles, and reinsurance needs.
• Provide portfolio analytics and insights to guide pricing, appetite and marketing.
• Maintain senior broker relationships and articulate risk appetite.
• Collaborate with Claims, Actuarial, Engineering, Legal, and UW Support; mentor juniors.
