European Tech Recruit is assisting in the recruitment for a Senior Digital Design Engineer based in Sophia Antipolis, onsite in France. The role focuses on architecture, RTL implementation and verification of Bluetooth and IEEE 802.15.4 MAC/PHY within wireless SoCs.

You will lead digital design activities, drive prototyping on FPGA, and collaborate with RF, firmware, software and system teams to ensure robust silicon and product readiness.

Senior Digital Design Engineer – Bluetooth / Wireless SoC

We are supporting a leading semiconductor and wireless technology organisation in the search for an experienced Senior Digital Design Engineer to join its wireless connectivity team in Sophia Antipolis.

This is a senior hands-on position focused on the architecture, design and verification of advanced Bluetooth and IEEE 802.15.4 MAC, PHY and platform solutions.

You will take ownership of complex digital hardware subsystems throughout the development lifecycle, working closely with system architects, algorithm engineers, hardware, software and validation teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture, design and verification of digital macros and subsystems for Bluetooth / IEEE 802.15.4 solutions.
• Define and develop micro-architecture and RTL implementations.
• Develop high-quality Verilog / SystemVerilog RTL.
• Implement and validate digital designs on FPGA platforms for prototyping.
• Work across the full digital development flow, including RTL, testbench development, simulation, code coverage, synthesis, verification and co-simulation.
• Support system integration, silicon validation and product certification activities.
• Work closely with RF, firmware, software, algorithm and system architecture teams.
• Provide technical support during integration and customer-related activities when required.
• Produce clear technical documentation covering architecture, interfaces and subsystem-level verification.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance within the team.
• Contribute to improvements in design methodology, development processes and engineering tools.
• Plan and track technical activities and provide clear visibility on project progress.

Requirements

• BSc, MSc or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related discipline.
• Approximately 12+ years of hands-on digital design experience.
• Significant experience in digital architecture or micro-architecture, ideally 5+ years.
• Strong knowledge of SoC and hardware subsystem architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
• Excellent understanding of the complete digital design lifecycle.
• Experience with:
• Simulation and verification
• Code coverage
• Synthesis
• Timing and implementation considerations
• Co-simulation
• Proven experience with FPGA implementation or prototyping.
• Ability to independently take ownership of complex hardware blocks or subsystems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring or design guidance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Experience with one or more wireless communication technologies would be particularly valuable:
