Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Platform & Governance Lead to take ownership of a strategic enterprise data model supporting a large-scale analytics and reporting environment within the energy sector. This position combines data governance, architecture leadership, and stakeholder management, ensuring consistent and scalable data foundations across multiple business domains. The successful candidate will work closely with business and technology teams to define data standards, oversee model evolution, and drive the long-term effectiveness of the organisation's data platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the governance and development of the enterprise data model across analytics and reporting environments.
• Establish and maintain data modelling standards, documentation, and best practices.
• Coordinate ongoing maintenance activities and assess the impact of application or platform changes on the data landscape.
• Drive initiatives aimed at reducing technical debt across data platform layers.
• Manage and prioritise requests for enhancements and new capabilities within the data ecosystem.
• Provide guidance and direction to Data Engineers and other technical stakeholders.
• Participate in project design and planning activities to ensure data architecture considerations are embedded early in delivery cycles.
• Collaborate with business teams to translate operational requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Promote data governance adoption and ensure alignment across different departments and programmes.
• Support data quality, consistency, security, and compliance initiatives.

Required Experience

• Master's degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Modelling, Data Engineering, or similar leadership-focused roles.
• Mandatory experience working within the Energy & Utilities sector.
• Demonstrated expertise with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and large-scale data processing environments.
• Deep understanding of enterprise data modelling methodologies and best practices.
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipelines.
• Knowledge of modern data lake and layered architecture concepts.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security standards, and GDPR compliance requirements.
• Experience leading technical teams and coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both business and technical audiences.
• Fluent English is required.
