Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to support the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project, a major design-build initiative in the NYC tri-state area. You will act as the civil/utility SME during construction, guiding field teams and resolving complex issues to ensure constructability and safety.

You will review and coordinate designs with Amtrak, utility owners, and multidisciplinary teams, while managing risk, scheduling, and budget considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required (Master's preferred).
• PE license in NJ or NY is required.
• 10+ years of civil engineering experience focused on utility infrastructure and construction-phase support.
• Experience resolving field issues and design changes in complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as civil/utility SME during construction for a major Amtrak project.
• Provide technical support to field teams and lead resolution of construction issues.
• Review designs against field conditions, constructability, and project constraints.
• Coordinate with contractors, Amtrak, utility owners, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support utility coordination during construction, including tie-ins and relocations.
• Contribute to drainage, grading, and corridor infrastructure as needed.
• Review shop drawings/as-builts and participate in field inspections and meetings.
• Identify and mitigate risks affecting cost, schedule, and constructability.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and support project delivery.
