Proton seeks a Backend Engineer to build and scale core services for 100+ million users. You will work on high-performance, secure APIs and collaborate with Product, Design, APIs and engineering teams.

Strong back-end experience, SQL, caching, and containerization are essential. PHP/Symfony, Python or Rust skills are a plus. We offer offices worldwide and flexible hybrid working hours.

Qualifications

• Proven back-end development experience with scalable systems.
• Strong SQL and data modeling knowledge (MySQL preferred).
• Experience with caching for performance optimization.
• Security-focused development and cryptographic awareness.
• Hands-on API design and RESTful services.
• Experience with Docker or similar containerization.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Rust is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Develop Proton's core backend services for 100M+ users.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, APIs, and engineering teams.
• Design and implement secure, high-velocity APIs.
• Lead initiatives from discovery to production when needed.
