Proton is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer on the Platform team to design and build core, cross‑product systems used by Proton Mail and Proton Calendar. You will focus on performance and cost efficiency while delivering features.

You will architect scalable services, improve existing systems using monitoring and data‑driven decisions, and collaborate with backend and client‑side engineers to ensure reliability and quality. Paris-based role.

Qualifications

• Backend development experience designing, building, and scaling large systems.
• Proven ability to improve performance and reduce production costs.
• Hands-on with monitoring/observability tools like Grafana or OpenTelemetry.
• Strong SQL skills with MySQL and data modeling.
• Experience leading technical initiatives end-to-end, from design through production.
