Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer - Payments & Fintech based in France to rebuild and scale the financial systems at the heart of a rapidly growing platform.

You will own the architecture and implementation of a canonical payments, subscriptions, billing, and entitlement platform from the ground up, spanning multiple gateways, currencies, and legal entities. This role emphasizes correctness, reliability, and auditable financial data across the business.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years backend engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Go and SQL.
• Experience with payment, subscription, billing, and ledger systems end-to-end.
• Experience with authoritative financial records and auditable transactions.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement canonical billing and entitlement ledger with append-only architecture.
• Own the complete subscription lifecycle across multiple gateways.
• Build payment gateway ingestion pipelines with idempotent webhooks and daily reconciliation.
• Handle refunds, chargebacks, disputes, credits, and settlements with accuracy.
