Job summary

Alma in Paris is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and develop the payment infrastructure powering millions of users across Europe. You will build APIs and backend components, focusing on reliability, security, and performance.

With 8+ years in backend engineering, you will bring strong Python and relational DB skills, and fluency in French and English. You will influence architecture and product decisions in a collaborative, regulated fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience on large-scale systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python and relational databases.
• Fluency in French with a solid level of English.
• Methodical, with strong communication and problem-solving skills in cross-functional environments.
• Have experience building payment or financial solutions.
• Have a track record of influencing product and technical decisions at scale.
• Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the APIs and backend components powering payments for merchants and consumers across Europe.
• Raise the bar on quality, security & performance in a regulated fintech environment.
• Shape our technical architecture in collaboration with Product and tech leaders.
• Own reliability end-to-end, leading incident response and performance improvements.
