Job summary

Odaseva, based in Paris, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for our Excalibur Data Platform, enabling secure data and code usage at scale.

In this hybrid, full-time role, you will own complex subsystems across multiple services, drive performance and cost efficiency in the cloud, and mentor the team while leveraging AI tools to improve development workflows.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on backend development with ownership of significant features from design through delivery.
• Deep expertise in at least one backend language (Node.js/TypeScript, PHP, Go, or Python) with production experience in two or more being a strong plus.
• Proven ability to quickly get up to speed on complex systems and take ownership of key parts, building from scratch or evolving existing.
• Strong fundamentals in software design and distributed systems (event-driven, queues, DB performance, testing).
• Experience with AWS (serverless, containers, IaC) and observability tooling; Salesforce experience is a plus.
• Fluent in English and French, with clear communication and collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs, from technical design to production.

• Architecture & Scale: Own complex features and sub-systems spanning multiple services, designed for large data volumes, multi-tenancy, performance, and cost in the cloud.

• Production Ownership: Investigate issues across systems, profile and optimize production code, and spot risks before they reach customers.

• AI-Augmented Engineering: Use AI tooling in your daily work, with the judgment to steer, review, and challenge what it produces.

• Technical Leadership: Raise the team's practices and code health through design proposals, code reviews, and mentoring.

• Based in Paris (75002), France.
• Hybrid: 3 days in the office / 2 days remote work.
• Full time permanent contract position.
