Job summary

Eutelsat Communications SA is seeking an RF systems architect to own the radio chain for our next-generation LEO, multi-orbit, IRIS² user terminals. You will manage RF budgets from modem to antenna, review partner designs, and drive measurement-based verification in a fast-paced programme.

Lead the architectural decisions, build in-house capability, and ensure traceability of budgets to system performance across Ku/Ka bands. Paris/London/Turin locations supported.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or MSc in electronics, RF engineering, electromagnetics or telecoms.
• 7+ years in RF systems or RF hardware engineering with architecture or budgets responsibility.
• Solid command of RF budgeting: noise figure, gain, EIRP, G/T, spur analysis.
• Knowledge of phase noise, jitter, oscillators and clocking.
• Understanding of phased array and antenna fundamentals including beamforming and calibration.
• Experience bridging RF hardware with digital baseband and data converters.
• Proven ability to review designs from external partners and base decisions on measurements.
• Ability to create and maintain budget models in Matlab or Python; strong data-driven mindset.
• Experience writing interface control documents and leading technical reviews.
• Fluent professional English.

Responsibilities

• Own the modem-to-antenna interface control document and maintain it through the programme.
• Own end-to-end RF budgets and traceability to service performance.
• Own phase-noise budget and translate into impact on carrier tracking and demodulation margin.
• Allocate impairment budgets between radio and physical layer and arbitrate trade-offs.
• Assess electronically steered antenna design and calibration strategy.
• Review modem module RF chain: transceiver, RFIC, filtering, gain distribution.
• Define RF/measured acceptance criteria and lead reviews with partners.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and supplier assessments for RF frontend/antenna.
• Build in-house RF competence: budgets, docs, measurement practice, review discipline.
