Job summary

Eutelsat Communications SA is seeking a hands-on User Terminal Senior Modem Engineer to work with the modem architect on the physical layer of next‑gen satellite user terminals (Ku/Ka bands). You will bring up platforms, verify against golden vectors, and drive lab automation, measurements and regression tests in a deeply technical execution role.

You'll build tooling, test assets and working practices from the ground up, enabling end-to-end terminal testing including over-the-air checks, beam

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or MSc in electronics, telecommunications, signal processing or computer science.
• 6 to 12 years in embedded signal processing, wireless physical layer implementation, modem integration or software defined radio.

Responsibilities

• Bring the platform up: toolchains and build environments, boot and firmware images, RISC-V initialisation, clocking and peripheral configuration.
• Work inside the PHY software: port and optimise signal processing kernels and their scheduling.
• Build and own the laboratory bench: RF chain, vector signal generators, channel emulator and GNSS simulator.
• Automate everything: scripted instrument control, unattended campaigns, nightly regression and results reporting.
• Execute acceptance and characterisation campaigns: BER/BLER, acquisition times, Doppler, EVM, ACLR and spectral masks.
• Verify software bit-exactly against reference model and golden vectors; track deviations.
• Instrument and profile the target: IQ capture, logging, tracing, performance counters and memory bandwidth.
• Debug end-to-end: firmware exceptions, DMA stalls, RF symptoms; use JTAG and logic analyzers.
• Reproduce partner results on our bench; ensure evidence-based discussions.
• Support integration with RF front end, antenna, protocol stack and host processor; end-to-end testing.
• Investigate issues in qualification and field deployment; drive root cause fixes.
• Document setups, procedures and results for reproducibility.
