Job summary

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer in Aubervilliers, France. This 5–6 month internship with the nanofabrication team focuses on improving the Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) software to detect defects on wafers and ready the workflow for 4‑inch fabrication.

You’ll bridge software and cleanroom processes, gaining hands‑on experience that directly impacts fab productivity.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Microtechnology, Electrical Engineering or Engineering.
Available for a 5–6 month internship, ideally starting in January 2027.
Comfortable with numerical coding (Python, Julia, or similar).
Some knowledge of cleanroom environments and microfabrication (semiconductors, superconductors) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Improve existing AOI software by combining and optimizing current defect detection pipelines.
Experiment directly on chips and wafers in production.
Work to reduce overall AOI test time to boost fab productivity.
Improve detection efficiency, lowering false negative and false positive rates.
Interact with front‑end process engineers to understand defect morphology and refine detection accordingly.
Prepare the AOI software for adaptation to 4‑inch wafer fabrication.
Document and present your results: write software specifications, document findings, present to the nanofabrication community at Alice & Bob, and write a SOP.
