Job summary

Alice & Bob in Aubervilliers invites applications for a Nanofabrication AOI software Intern (M/F) in the backend software team. This 5-6 month internship is full-time and begins in January 2027, located at our Aubervilliers site.

You will refine AOI pipelines, work at the intersection of software and cleanroom processes, and contribute to preparing our move to 4-inch wafer fabrication while gaining hands-on experience on real wafers and defect detection challenges.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Computer Science, Microtechnology, Electrical Engineering or Engineering.
• Available for a 5-6 month internship, starting January 2027.
• Comfortable with numerical coding (Python or Julia).
• Some knowledge of cleanroom environments and microfabrication is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Improve AOI software by optimizing defect-detection pipelines.
• Experiment directly on chips and wafers in production.
• Reduce AOI test time to boost fab productivity.
• Improve detection accuracy (false negatives/positives).

Nanofabrication AOI software Intern M/F at Alice & Bob, Aubervilliers. A intern-level full time position in the Nanofabrication Backend team, listed under software engineering.

Purpose of the role

As we ramp up production of our quantum chips, catching defects early is critical to scaling our yield. Join our nanofabrication team for a 5-6 month internship where you'll get hands-on with our Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) software - refining the pipelines that detect defects on real wafers, and helping prepare our process for the move to 4-inch wafer fabrication.

You'll work at the intersection of software and cleanroom process, with direct visibility into how your work shapes fab productivity.

This internship will start in January 2027 !

Responsibilities

• Improve existing AOI software by combining and optimizing current defect detection pipelines
• Experiment directly on chips and wafers in production
• Work to reduce overall AOI test time to boost fab productivity
• Improve detection efficiency, lowering false negative and false positive rates
• Interact with front-end process engineers to understand defect morphology and refine detection accordingly
• Prepare the AOI software for adaptation to 4-inch wafer fabrication
• Document and present your results: write software specifications, document findings, present to the nanofabrication community at Alice & Bob, and write a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Computer Science, Microtechnology, Electrical Engineering or Engineering
• Available for a 5-6 month internship, ideally starting in January 2027
• Comfortable with numerical coding (Python, Julia, or similar)
• Some knowledge of cleanroom environments and microfabrication (semiconductors, superconductors) is plus
