Job summary

Alice & Bob is developing a universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer and seeking an Experimental Physics Intern to extend broadband flux noise sensing capabilities. The role focuses on cryogenic setups, flux-tunable resonators and precision RF measurement, with emphasis on calibration, modelling and experimental validation.

The internship runs 6 months starting Jan–Mar 2027, reporting to the Team Lead, HERMES, and collaborating with quantum and RF engineers within the team.

Qualifications

• Master's student in physics, engineering physics or electrical/electronics engineering.
• Experience in RF/microwave measurements and low-temperature setups is preferred.
• Strong Python skills for instrument control, data acquisition and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and set up the flux noise measurement experiment.
• Characterise flux noise measurement chips and calibrate resonators.
• Analyze bandwidth limitations of the readout chain across frequency.
• Propose and test approaches to extend measurement bandwidth.
• Document experiments and present findings to the HERMES team.
