The City of Natchez is seeking a Laborer I w/CDL for the Public Works department. This full-time position performs semi-skilled manual labor and operates maintenance vehicles under supervision.

Responsibilities include repairing and constructing streets and structures, demolition, landscaping, welding, and other duties as assigned. A CDL (A or B) is required and safety screenings are part of the process.

Formación

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Must pass drug screening and background check.
• Commercial Driver’s License (A or B) required.

Title: Laborer I w/CDL

Employment Status: Full-Time, Regular

Department: Public Works

Reports To: Public Works Director

Salary: $ 16.00 an hour

Scope of Responsibility: Semi-skilled manual labor

Essential Job Functions

• Tasks involve driving maintenance vehicles
• Repairing and constructing streets, buildings, and other structures
• Demolition, landscaping, loading and unloading materials
• Welding
• Other duties of similar nature as assigned

Qualifications

High School or GED equivalent

Licensing and Certifications

• Commercial Driver’s License (A or B)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Welding experience
• Ability to understand oral instructions
• Ability to lift heavy articles
• Knowledge of construction equipment and tools
• Withstand varying climate conditions
• Be in good physical condition
• Must pass drug screening and background check.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift, carry, and put away parcels weighing up to 25 or more pounds
• Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job taking distance and speed into account
