The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility invites applications for a three-year PhD project on growth and characterization of two-dimensional free-standing functional oxides, developed at PGI-7, enabling in situ TEM studies during epitaxial growth and under external stimuli.

The PhD will investigate in situ epitaxial growth, oxygen-vacancy ordering, and topotactic phase transitions in SrFe(Co)Ox thin films, using state-of-the-art TEM, electron holography, and electrical biasing to explore

Qualifications

  • Degree enabling enrolment for a PhD (e.g., MSc, Master 2, Laurea or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in English (upper-intermediate) required or proof via degree in English.

Responsabilités

  • Conduct research on growth and characterization of 2D free-standing oxide membranes.
  • Perform in situ TEM studies during epitaxial growth and under external stimuli.
  • Collaborate with ER-C, PGI-7 and partner labs across Europe.
