The City of Granbury is seeking a Maintenance/Laborer to support public works facilities under the direction of the Parks Foreman. The role involves unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance, with a focus on outdoor grounds, irrigation systems, and facility upkeep.

Typical duties include mowing, edging, playground and athletic facility work, restroom upkeep, trenching, material handling, and following written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of common tools, materials, and methods in maintenance and construction work.

• Ability to deal effectively with superiors and fellow employees.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess a State of Texas Class C driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Job Summary

Typical Duties

• Assists in construction and maintenance of athletic facilities.
• Maintains and repairs irrigation systems.

• Digs and backfills trenches.
• Loads and unloads materials.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of common tools, materials, and methods in maintenance and construction work required;
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions required;
• Ability to deal effectively with superiors and fellow employees required;
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess a State of Texas Class C driver’s license and a safe driving record

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods;
• Ability to walk from facility to facility on surfaces that may be soft or uneven;
• Ability to climb ladders, step stools, and reach overhead;
• Ability to lift 100 pounds;
• Ability to stand, push, pull, stoop, squat, kneel, and twist to perform job functions;
• Hearing and vision must be satisfactory to the degree that duties may be performed effectively and safely.

Work Environment

Majority of work is performed in an outdoor environment or in structures that do not have climate control. Therefore there is a possibility of substantial exposure to extreme temperatures.

Extended sun exposure is possible. Work may be subject to time pressures, frequent changes in tasks, working closely with others as a team.

Miscellaneous Information

The City of Granbury offers a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience. The city participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) at a 8% employee deposit rate with a city matching ratio of 2:1. The city pays 100% of the employee’s medical insurance and term life insurance.

Full-time employees receive 40 hours of vacation at 6 months, then accrue each pay period based on the number of years employed up to 160 hours. 48 hours of Sick leave at 6 months, then accrue 3.70 hours each pay period. Full-time employees are eligible for 14 paid holidays. A full range of insurance benefits is also provided to full time employees. The city also provides a 9/80 work schedule where employees have every other Friday off.
