City of Rock Island seeks a maintenance worker to perform mowing, raking, snow shoveling, and general upkeep of City properties and facilities.

Under direct supervision, you will support maintenance of City facilities, water distribution, and sewer systems. Applicants must understand simple instructions, hold a valid Class D Illinois Driver's License, and be able to pass background and drug screening. Residency does not apply to seasonal positions.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Must possess a valid Class D Illinois Driver's License and be able to pass a background check and substance screening.

Responsabilités

• Mows grass, rakes leaves, cuts weeds on City owned properties.
• Picks up and disposes of debris and litter on City owned properties.
• Shovels snow from sidewalks and steps; spreads salt by hand on ice.
• Performs maintenance tasks related to City facilities, water distribution, and sewer collection systems.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Under direct supervision, performs all types of manual labor including mowing grass, raking leaves, and shoveling snow. Performs other work assignments involving the maintenance of City equipment, properties, and facilities.

• 1. Mows grass, rakes leaves, cuts weeds on City owned properties.
• 2. Picks up and disposes of debris and litter on City owned properties.
• 3. Shovels snow from sidewalks and steps; spreads salt by hand on ice covered walkways.
• 4. Performs all types of manual labor activities related to the general maintenance of City facilities, water distribution, and sewer collection systems.
• 5. Performs other duties as requires or assigned.Requires ability to perform strenuous manual labor in all types of weather conditions.

• Requires ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instruction.
• Requires possession of a valid class "D" Illinois Driver's License.
• Must pass a background check and substance screening.
• Must be in good physical condition and be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Demands

Requires ability to tolerate extremes of weather, as well as perform continuous; standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and heavy lifting (as defined by OSHA Work Practices Guide). Specific requirements for lifting and frequencies are stated in terms of the maximum expectations of the position.

Additional Information

Residency requirement does not apply to seasonal positions.

Salary increases $0.50 per hour with a CDL license.
