Job summary

Micron is seeking a Material Engineer to drive packaging material qualification, improvements, and supplier quality management in support of manufacturing cost, quality, delivery, and risk objectives.

The role collaborates with the Key Material Group (KMG), manufacturing sites, quality, suppliers, and partners to qualify materials, manage changes, and ensure lab, equipment, and compliance readiness.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 0-2 years experience in material qualification, packaging materials, or semiconductor manufacturing support is a plus.
• Knowledge and application of quality and statistical analysis tools.
• Ability to work independently while effectively supporting global teams.
• Strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking skills.
• Effective communicator, able to collaborate across all levels.
• Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
• Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable.
• Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role‑appropriate AI literacy to use AI‑enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem‑solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness.
• Contributes to continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements.
• Collaborate with KMG teams and site stakeholders to develop material improvements that reduce cost and improve quality.
• Plan and perform qualification testing for packaging materials.
• Generate qualification reports and apply 8D, SPC, and JMP for root cause analysis.
• Operate and support laboratory tools for material qualification and failure analysis.
• Maintain 6S standards and proper material/sample/asset management.
• Drive corrective actions using SQN or GDMS with IQC and manufacturing.
