Backroads seeks a regional Leadership Development Lead to support field staff in France, Switzerland and Germany. Based in Pernes-les-Fontaines, this role works with the regional leadership team to identify needs, drive performance, retention and satisfaction across the region.

You will mentor a team of 15-20 Leaders, onboard new Leaders and TPSs, and coordinate regional meetings while partnering with Field Experts and regional managers to maintain high morale and smooth operations.

Qualifications

  • Trip Leading experience required.
  • Mentoring experience, especially in leadership development.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to motivate, coach and give feedback across leaders.

Responsabilités

Job Summary

Regional LD Leads provide support and mentorship throughout the season to field staff based in designated regions. The Regional LDL is based in a high-volume region, being a core member of the regional leadership team. This role serves as the LD point of contact in designated region(s) and works closely with RD, RLs, and FLOs to identify needs in the region and support field staff performance, retention and satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the LD point of contact in assigned regions and provide support & leadership to Leaders & TPSs on areas including (but not limited to): guest & coleader performance, leadership, teamwork, career development, scheduling guidance, use of regional and global systems, etc.
  • Partner with other regional leadership team members (Field Experts, RLs & FLOs) to focus on regional morale, performance and operations.
  • Might coordinate regional specific people operations tasks, such as regional certifications, medical visits, etc.
  • Serve as point of contact to welcome & onboard new Leaders & TPSs to the region.
  • Provide leadership on the GRAF & New to Europe programs.
  • Ensure compliance with PTTCs, Mid-Season Check-ins and End of season review for New Leaders in the region.
  • Mentor a team of 15-20 Leaders and provide one on one coaching and mentoring to enhance their leadership.
  • Serve as a Backroads ambassador to redirect negativity, offer transparency & clarity on policy, procedures and provide to coaching for staff (LAUGH, BIR, etc) as needed
  • Responsible for “performance management” in assigned regions by overseeing various performance management processes: Ownership of Leader Low Score Alert follow-up for designated region(s) Execute performance management conversations in partnership with LDM (Career progression, coaching on specific Field staff criteria, disciplinary actions)
  • Partner with the regional management team to facilitate Village meetings and develop content accordingly.
  • Partner with regional Field Lead Team to organize and facilitate Regional Kick-Off Meetings, as needed.
  • Make Field Visits to regions as needed and upon approval from Manager (2-3 each season)
  • Take part in monthly LD scheduler review process for designated regions
  • Partner with LD managers and regional leadership team during schedule drops and “coverage plan” process.
  • Participate in 1-2 New Leader Training as a member of the Training team
  • Possibility to lead one trip during the duration of the contract, if interested, and based on need and manager approval
  • May be offered a role as member of the Interview Team, based on skillset.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate has Trip Leading and H&T Mentoring experience. They have superb organizational skills and attention to detail, while also keeping the “big picture” in mind. They know what it takes to be a great Backroads Field Staff. They are a natural “leader among leaders” with the skillset to motivate others, multi-task, and give and receive feedback effectively. Nice to have skills and experience
  • Speaking at least 1 language of assigned regions
  • Previous experience as a H&T team member
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and facilitation skills
  • Experience as a Field Expert
  • Embodies all characteristics of the Mentor Criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, ability to build strong relationships and influence leader performance and efficiency of systems in the region.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • French Work Authorization or willingness to move residency to the country.
