Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.

• Strong experience on offshore pipeline, subsea or SURF projects.
• Proven experience leading pre-commissioning activities and managing subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of hydrotesting, pigging, dewatering, drying and offshore pipeline operations.

Job description

As part of a major offshore Oil & Gas project, we are looking for a Lead Pre-Commissioning Engineer to support and coordinate all pre-commissioning activities from engineering preparation through offshore execution and system handover phases. Working closely with Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Client teams, the Lead Pre-Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for planning, supervising and delivering pre-commissioning operations related to pipelines, subsea systems and offshore facilities. This role requires a strong technical background, hands-on offshore experience and the ability to manage subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams in a complex international environment.

Position Overview

The Lead Pre-Commissioning Engineer will act as the focal point for all pre-commissioning activities, ensuring technical compliance, operational readiness and safe execution throughout the project lifecycle. The position combines engineering, coordination and offshore operational responsibilities and will involve close interaction with clients, vessel teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Commissioning Engineering & Preparation

• Review client specifications, project requirements and technical documentation.
• Prepare and validate pre-commissioning procedures, method statements and execution plans.
• Participate in technical reviews, risk assessments and project planning activities.
• Support tendering activities and technical proposal preparation when required.
• Coordinate interfaces between engineering, construction and commissioning teams.
• Ensure all pre-commissioning deliverables are prepared and issued according to project requirements.
• Lead and coordinate offshore pre-commissioning campaigns.
• Supervise subcontractors performing pre-commissioning operations.
• Coordinate and monitor Filling, Cleaning and Gauging (FCG) activities.
• Oversee hydrotesting and pressure testing operations.
• Manage pigging activities and associated monitoring operations.
• Coordinate pipeline dewatering and drying activities.
• Support ballasting and deballasting operations.
• Coordinate monitoring and testing of subsea cables, umbilicals and fiber optic systems.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting during offshore execution.

System Completion & Handover

• Support Mechanical Completion and System Completion activities.
• Coordinate system turnover and handover to commissioning teams.
• Participate in readiness reviews and pre-startup verification activities.
• Ensure all quality documentation, reports and completion dossiers are properly compiled.
• Capture lessons learned and contribute to project close-out activities.
• Engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning or Offshore Operations within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong experience on offshore pipeline, subsea or SURF projects.
• Proven experience leading pre-commissioning activities and managing subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of hydrotesting, pigging, dewatering, drying and offshore pipeline operations.
• Good understanding of Mechanical Completion, System Completion and Commissioning interfaces.
• Strong leadership, coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work in an international and multicultural project environment.
• Fluent English is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience on EPCI offshore projects.
• Experience working directly with end clients and vessel crews.
• Knowledge of subsea installation methodologies and offshore execution campaigns.
• Experience supporting tendering and project engineering activities.
• Strong understanding of offshore operational procedures and HSE requirements.

Certifications

• CA-EBS.
• OGUK or equivalent Offshore Medical Certificate.
• Valid offshore safety certifications.
