Job Description
About the role

We are looking for an experienced Aerial Robotics Engineer to lead the development of the guidance, navigation and control capabilities of our autonomous aerial platforms.

This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering role with significant ownership. You will drive the architecture of our estimation and control stack, influence system-level design decisions, and help transform cutting-edge neuromorphic sensing technologies into reliable flight-ready products.

You will work across the full development cycle—from algorithm design and simulation to embedded implementation, flight testing and customer deployments—while collaborating closely with experts in perception, embedded AI and hardware.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving first-principles engineering problems and wants to have a direct impact on the future of autonomous aerial systems.

What You Will Do
  • Own the autonomy stack: Lead the architecture, development and evolution of state estimation, navigation, guidance and control pipelines for autonomous aerial vehicles.
  • Drive technical direction: Make key architectural decisions balancing performance, robustness, computational efficiency and product constraints.
  • Build production-grade systems: Design algorithms that transition successfully from research prototypes to reliable embedded software operating in challenging real-world environments.
  • Develop advanced estimation and control: Design and implement solutions involving sensor fusion, model-based and AI-based nonlinear control, trajectory generation, visual-inertial navigation and autonomous mission execution.
  • Validate through simulation and flight: Define verification strategies, develop simulation scenarios, analyse flight data and lead experimental campaigns to continuously improve system performance.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with computer vision, embedded software, electronics and systems engineers to co-design integrated autonomous systems.
  • Shape the engineering culture: Mentor engineers, review technical designs, raise engineering standards and help grow a world-class robotics organization.
  • Influence product strategy: Partner with leadership and customers to translate operational requirements into technical roadmaps and product capabilities.
Preferred Experience
What you will bring
  • MSc or PhD in Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience developing autonomous robotic or aerospace systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying complete navigation, estimation and control pipelines on real robotic platforms.
  • Strong expertise in modern state estimation techniques, including Kalman filtering, nonlinear optimization and sensor fusion.
  • Strong understanding of flight control, guidance, trajectory planning and nonlinear control methods.
  • Experience bringing robotics algorithms into production-quality embedded software.
  • Excellent C++ development skills, with Python used for simulation, experimentation and tooling.
  • Experience analysing flight logs, debugging complex robotic systems and improving system reliability through experimentation.
  • Strong systems engineering mindset with the ability to balance algorithmic performance, hardware limitations and operational constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in English.

We're especially interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Autonomous UAVs, VTOL aircraft or other aerial robotic systems
  • PX4, ArduPilot or custom flight-control software
  • Multi-sensor fusion using cameras, IMUs, GNSS, radar or event cameras
  • Reinforcement Learning based control strategies
  • Real-time operating systems and safety-critical software
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), software-in-the-loop (SIL) and digital twin simulation
  • ROS 2, Gazebo, AirSim or Isaac Sim
  • Mission planning and autonomous behaviours
  • Flight testing and system integration
  • Defense, aerospace or other high-reliability engineering environments
  • Technical leadership of robotics teams
  • Contributions to influential open-source robotics projects or peer-reviewed publications
