Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Legal Operations Specialist – Data Licensing to streamline rights management and metadata for data licensing across EU and US compliance. You will transform legal analysis into scalable workflows and maintain a central rights-and-obligations database.

You’ll collaborate with Commercials and Legal teams to ensure data use aligns with contracts, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements while building AI-powered workflows to scale the dataset offerings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in law or related field.
• 2–5 years in copyright, permissions, licensing, or contract administration.
• Knowledge of EU and US copyright law and contract interpretation.
• Strong attention to detail and discretion with confidential contracts.

Responsibilities

• Clear inbound data usage requests by researching rights status, scope, obligations, and restrictions before data enters systems.
• Review data-related agreements and codify key terms into structured metadata and templates.
• Assess whether AI use cases fall within third-party rights and flag gaps for amendments.
• Maintain a central database as the single source of truth for all data-related agreements.
• Track and manage ongoing obligations—uses, confidentiality, re-use rights—and automate reporting.
• Verify provenance, ownership, and consent for acquired data and identify obligations for monitoring.
