DeepL is building a hybrid compute platform spanning on‑prem GPUs and cloud regions to support its research and product workloads. You will own reliability, capacity and cost efficiency, shaping architecture and driving cloud and on‑prem integration.

You will design and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters, mentor engineers, and lead incident responses to keep systems resilient while advancing observability and security across the platform.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on Kubernetes expertise across scale and lifecycle.
• Experience with cloud and on-prem infrastructure, AWS preferred.
• Familiarity with networking and Linux debugging end-to-end.
• Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform or equivalent and GitOps tooling with ArgoCD.
• Software engineering skills in Go or Python, building tooling for other engineers.
• Track record of technical ownership spanning multiple teams and incidents.
• Bonus for GPU infrastructure for training or inference at scale.
• Distributed storage experience with Ceph.

Responsabilités

• Take ownership of reliability, capacity and cost efficiency of DeepL's compute infrastructure across AWS and on‑prem.
• Shape the platform's architecture with strong technical positions and peer-aligned decisions.
• Design, build and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters across cloud and on‑prem infrastructure.
• Drive the deepening of the hybrid model, unifying workloads across on‑prem hardware and cloud.
• Define infrastructure-as-code and platform standards to strengthen observability and security.
• Mentor engineers across the track, raise the technical bar through design reviews and decisions.
• Build consensus across teams and translate it into shipped changes for the platform.
• Lead incident response for hybrid infrastructure and sustain long-term on-call readiness.
