Northern Montana Hospital is seeking an HR Assistant to provide administrative support to the HR department, assist with recruitment, onboarding, and employee record maintenance, and manage benefits administration while ensuring compliance. The role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and communications skills, and discretion in handling confidential information.

Occasional overtime may be required as part of the fast-paced, collaborative office environment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate with HR/office procedures experience.
  • Associates degree preferred for this HR assistant role.
  • Experience with HR systems or employee relations is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic typing ability.

About Northern Montana Hospital

Northern Montana Hospital (NMH) is the center of a comprehensive system of medical and health care services, staffed with a team of caring professionals who are dedicated to meeting the growing needs of our Hi-Line communities. The not-for-profit, 25-bed Critical Access Hospital features a 24-hour physician-staffed emergency department, with state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging and electronic medical record services. Our large, quiet labor/birthing rooms are private and located away from other patient care areas. The private patient rooms on the 5th floor Medical/Surgical Department boast views from every window.

Specialties of our active staff of doctors include Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Hematology, Internal Medicine, OB/GYN, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Optometry, Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, Pain Management, Pathology, Podiatry, Psychiatry, Psychology, Radiology and Women’s Health.


For the convenience of our patients, we also host visiting physicians at our clinics in the areas of:

  • Pediatric Pulmonology

  • Optometry


About the role

The HR Assistant will provide administrative support to the HR department, ensuring efficient operations and excellent service to employees. This role assists with recruitment, onboarding, Formal Orientation, employee record maintenance, benefits administration, and HR compliance. The HR Assistant serves as a key point of contact for employee inquiries and helps foster a positive workplace culture through timely and accurate support. To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and communications skills, sound judgment and discretion, a passion for delivering outstanding internal service, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative office setting. This position does require occasional overtime.


Qualifications


  • High school graduate. Previous experience in HR, hospital and/or office procedures.

  • Associates degree preferred.

  • Computer skills, knowledge of general office practices; experience with HR systems or employee relations is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Can type minimum of 45 words per minute.

  • Strong customer service skills and desire to work with and help people of all diversities.

  • Able to make sound decisions and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

  • Familiarity with employment laws, healthcare compliance and HR best practice is a plus.
