Doctolib is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to shape architecture and evaluation across Clinical, Productivity, Phone Assistant, and ASR AI teams. You will drive cross-cutting ML patterns, cost-aware deployment, and compliance with GDPR/MDR/EU AI Act while mentoring senior engineers and aligning stakeholders.

The role demands deep ML expertise, strong communication, and a track record delivering production ML at scale in a cloud environment. Berlin-based, hybrid work arrangement.

Competenze

• 10+ years in ML/AI with 3+ years at Staff+ or Principal level leading multi-team technical initiatives.
• Deep expertise in at least two of: clinical NLP, LLM fine-tuning and evaluation, automatic speech recognition, RAG systems, or reinforcement learning.
• Expert in Python, PyTorch/Transformers for training, and vLLM for inference with production experience (AWS/GCP).
• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Statistics, or related field (or equivalent research experience).
• Exceptional communication skills to align diverse stakeholders and explain complex technical decisions.

Mansioni

• Own cross-team ML architecture decisions, from model selection to production deployment patterns.
• Define and drive adoption of rigorous evaluation frameworks across all AI teams.
• Establish shared production infrastructure patterns for AI: model/versioning, guardrails, uncertainty, cost, observability.
• Lead design of agentic solutions and how product teams build on AI capabilities.
• Influence Staff/Senior ML Engineers through architecture reviews and guidance.
• Partner with Product, Legal, and Compliance to ensure safe rollout in line with EU regulations.
