Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an engineering leader to own the editor’s AI-powered capabilities. You will guide a team while continuing to write code and ship critical features, shaping technical direction, delivery, and production health.

You will partner with Product to define meaningful roadmap opportunities, evaluate AI-driven ideas, and establish AI-native development practices in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with leadership exposure.
• Experience building consumer-facing web products at scale.
• Experience with complex page builders, editors, or visual editing tools is preferred.
• Proven track record shipping AI-powered product features beyond AI coding assistants.
• Experience collaborating with Product Managers on roadmaps and strategy.
• Comfortable serving as primary escalation point for production incidents.
• Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js; able to work with PHP 7.4/8+ and Laravel.
• Familiarity with MariaDB, Redis, AWS services (EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, SQS, S3), Docker, and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• Strong focus on testing, code quality, reliability, and risk management.
• Hands-on use of AI coding tools and judgment to avoid unnecessary overhead.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the editor and AI-powered capabilities.
• Lead the Editor 2.0 delivery with sprint planning and blockers resolution.
• Be a hands-on contributor for critical-path engineering work.
• Maintain high standards for code reviews, testing, and maintainability.
• Own incident response and production health for the editor area.
• Collaborate with Product to define roadmaps and feature opportunities.
• Evaluate AI ideas based on user workflows and conversion goals.
• Develop AI-native features and determine what the system should generate or automate.
• Use AI coding tools daily while ensuring understandability and maintainability.
• Mentor engineers and promote AI-assisted engineering practices.
