Jobtailor is seeking a Geotechnical Lead for offshore wind projects in Lyon, France. You will act as the technical focal point, ensuring QA/QC of geotechnical deliverables and providing soil data and inputs for foundation and cable design.

Requirements include an MSc in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, 5+ years of offshore wind geotechnical experience, and proficient English for international stakeholders; bottom-fixed experience is required and floating is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • MSc in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of practical geotechnical engineering for offshore wind.
  • Proficient written and spoken English for international stakeholders.
  • Bottom-fixed offshore wind experience required; floating is a plus.
  • Knowledge of offshore geotechnical surveys, RFQ processes, labs.
  • Experience integrating datasets; familiarity with standards.
  • Project management skills for large site investigations.
  • Ability to integrate geophysical data and produce reports.

Responsabilités

  • Act as geotechnical focal point; ensure QA/QC of deliverables.
  • Provide soil data and geotechnical inputs for foundation/cable design.
  • Lead geoscience workstreams for bids or offshore wind projects.
  • Perform quality control of geotechnical datasets and survey data.
  • Review technical reports and provide guidance.
  • Prepare technical documentation (SOW, requirements).
  • Support certification activities for geoscience data.
  • Supervise geotechnical survey operations.
  • Interface with packages on foundation/anchor design and studies.
  • Contribute to geoscience topics and define roadmaps.
  • Execute RFQ to deliverable certification and contract management.
  • Provide site conditions data and information for designs.
  • Identify and mitigate geotechnical risks on offshore wind projects.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to integrate constraints.

Description du poste

Responsibilities
  • Act as geotechnical technical focal point / lead, ensuring QA/QC of geotechnical deliverables and producing geotechnical inputs to relevant packages
  • Manage interfaces with relevant packages, provide soil data and geotechnical inputs for foundation and cable design, and support certification of soil data through interactions with the project certification body
  • When required, lead the geoscience workstreams for a bid or an offshore wind project (floating & bottom-fixed), from both technical and project management perspectives, including budget, schedule, risk, and procurement inputs
  • Perform quality control of geotechnical datasets and interpret survey data
  • Review technical reports and provide technical guidance
  • Prepare all technical documentation relevant to the roadmap: SOW, technical requirements, etc.
  • Support certification activities for geoscience data
  • Supervise geotechnical survey operations
  • Interface with relevant packages on foundation/anchor design, and scope external conceptual design and feasibility studies
  • Contribute to, and where appropriate lead, technical topics related to marine geotechnics
  • Define geoscience/UXO roadmaps for projects pre- and post-bid
  • Define associated geoscience budgets and schedules
  • Execute roadmap items from RFQ stage to deliverable certification: RFQ management, contract management, etc.
  • Provide documentation (site conditions, Design Basis Part A, etc.) and information for foundation and cable design
  • Provide geotechnical inputs to internal and external stakeholders (cable/foundation package leads, design contractors, certification bodies)
  • Identify and manage geotechnical risks associated with offshore wind projects and propose mitigation measures to minimize potential impacts on safety, design, installation, and reliability
  • Work closely with design engineers to integrate geotechnical constraints into foundation design and ensure compatibility with offshore wind turbines
  • Participate in regulatory meetings, stakeholder meetings, and community outreach initiatives
  • Share experience with the team and contribute to strong technical discussions across projects
Requirements
  • MSc degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Proficient written and spoken English, including the ability to work with technical documentation and international stakeholders
  • 5+ years of practical experience in geotechnical engineering for offshore wind projects
  • Experience in bottom-fixed projects is required; experience in floating offshore wind and anchor design is an advantage
  • Knowledge and experience of offshore geotechnical survey activities: RFQ processes, contractors, equipment, laboratory testing, etc.
  • Experience integrating datasets and familiarity with international and local standards
  • Project management skills and experience managing large site investigation and interpretation projects
  • Experience integrating geophysical and geotechnical data, producing geotechnical interpretative reports, using ground models, and maintaining geohazard registers
  • Knowledge of offshore design codes and industry best practices
  • The following are advantages:
