Viridien is seeking an intern to join the Reservoir Research department, focusing on seismic inversion and 3D subsurface modelling. You will work with researchers to adapt inversion schemes and develop prototypes that handle multiple inversion requirements, testing on real data to understand parameter impacts and limitations.
Ideal candidates are in their final year of engineering school or pursuing a Masters with strong math, physics, and numerical computation skills, and an interest in
Viridien (www.viridiengroup.com) is an advanced technology, digital and Earth data company that pushes the boundaries of science for a more prosperous and sustainable future. With our ingenuity, drive and deep curiosity we discover new insights, innovations, and solutions that efficiently and responsibly resolve complex natural resource, digital, energy transition and infrastructure challenges.
Viridien's Reservoir Research department works on better characterizing the subsurface for resource recovery, a well-established discipline where new technologies are now key to speeding up the integration of seismic information into reservoir models. This requires precise 3D modelling, advanced seismic imaging and well data to accurately quantify available resources. Several seismic inversion methodologies can extract quantitative elastic attributes that provide reliable input for geological modelling. Depending on the seismic data available, Viridien runs various inversion algorithms: Elastic inversion, PP-PS inversion, Time-lapse (4D) inversion or Azimuthal inversion. Each with its own input data, parameters and QC to optimize within a user-friendly interface.
During your internship, you will be working in the subsurface imaging R&D team, in close collaboration with our software and production departments, to meet their demands and industry trends. Our R&D team consists of passionate scientists with very diverse backgrounds including geology, theoretical physics, engineering, as well as seismic reservoir characterization. We are all committed to support the Reservoir and Imaging teams on the delivery of the projects and to develop new technologies that will strengthen Viridien’s technical leadership on our competitive market.
At Viridien, we are committed to delivering a respectful, inclusive, and transparent recruitment experience. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to provide individual feedback to every applicant. Only candidates whose qualifications closely match the role criteria will be contacted for an interview. We do, however, aim to share personalized feedback with those who progress to the first round of interviews and beyond. We are also dedicated to ensuring that our hiring process accessible to all. If you require any reasonable adjustments to fully participate in the application or interview stages, please don’t hesitate to contact your recruiter directly.
