Job summary

CGG SA offers a six-month internship in Essonne (Île-de-France) focused on developing neural network methods to guide Full-Waveform Inversion (FWI) for seismic imaging. You will work in the Geophysics R&D environment, collaborating with software and research teams to advance elastic modelling and data-driven subsurface representations.

The ideal candidate is in the final year of a Master’s program in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, AI, or Data Science, with strong ML/neural network

Qualifications

• Final-year Master’s student in Physics, Mathematics, CS, AI or Data Science.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and neural networks.
• Excellent coding skills in Python, C/C++, CUDA or FORTRAN.
• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).

Responsibilities

• Explore neural networks to incorporate petrophysical information for guiding FWI.
• Develop a neural network to map petrophysical parameters to elastic parameters (Vp, Vs, density).
• Integrate neural mapping into the FWI framework to guide inversion with petrophysical data.
