Mission

Job Summary

This six-month internship is designed for final-year physics, mathematics, and geophysics students eager to apply their theoretical knowledge and problem-solving skills to real-world Earth data.

About the team

We are a diverse and dynamic group of around hundred of operation and R&D geophysicists based in France with strong relation with our colleagues from UK, Singapore, Brazil, and USA.

We develop and apply state-of-the-art signal processing, modeling, and imaging techniques using some of the world's most advanced computing facilities to build high-resolution 3D images and models of the Earth's subsurface. Beyond imaging, we transform seismic data into quantitative rock-property models, helping our clients better understand the subsurface and make informed decisions.

You can expect to develop your skill in the fields of signal processing, modelling and imaging, and to gain awareness of wider developments in the fields of geoscience and data science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Testing new methods to further refine and improve our current state-of-the-art FWI workflow, in collaboration with our R&D department
  • Setting up a robust production FWI workflow over a large ultra-high-density land dataset
  • Establishing a new imaging workflow for optimizing the update of the elastic parameters with FWI. The coupling between these parameters being a complex problem, testing will be carried out in collaboration with the R&D department
  • Building a production-scale velocity model with elastic FWI over a streamer or OBN dataset.
  • Developing and testing novel signal-processing workflows to remove non-repeatable noise caused by 4D amplitude variations, positioning errors, and non-repeatable multiples between base and monitor datasets.
  • Running 4D imaging on a production-scale project and improving it by applying the process of least-squares migration to mitigate the impact of non-repeatable acquisition geometry.
  • Testing and deploying innovative demultiple methods and workflows in collaboration with our R&D department
  • Setting up a robust production-scale workflow for a large ultra high-density land dataset with several hundred Terabytes of data
Qualifications
  • Last year of Master's degree in any of the following disciplines: Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, Astrophysics/Astronomy, Natural Sciences with a Physics specialization.
  • Enthusiastic attitude towards learning and passion for your subject
  • The technical ability to adapt your existing knowledge to a new field
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts
  • Evidence of leadership, teamwork or customer service either from involvement in university societies/extracurricular activities, volunteering and/or work experience/internships
Benefits
  • Compensation depends on your internship contract.
  • Access to the company cafeteria at a subsidized rate.
  • Reimbursement of 50% of public transportation costs in Île-de-France (Navigo pass).
  • Access to company committee benefits (CSE advantages).
  • Health insurance, public transport partly covered.
  • Confidential employee assistance program to support our staff covering mental health, counselling, wellbeing, legal & financial issues
Additional information
  • Starting date: From January 2027
