Altea Energy in Paris seeks a Lead ICSS Instrument Engineer to drive instrumentation and ICSS engineering for a major FPSO development, spanning detailed engineering through start-up preparation. You will coordinate with EPC contractors and multiple disciplines to meet scope, schedule and budget.

Requirements include Chartered Engineer or engineering degree in Instrumentation/Automation, 15+ years in oil & gas instrumentation/ICSS, offshore FPSO experience, and strong leadership to guide vendors

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer or Engineering Degree in Instrumentation, Automation, Process Control, ICSS, ESD or Fire & Gas Systems.

Responsabilités

  • Lead all ICSS and Instrumentation engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review documents (P&IDs, Instrument Indexes, Data Sheets, Hook-up drawings, Layouts, Cabling drawings).
  • Supervise EPC Contractor activities related to ICSS and Instrumentation.
  • Monitor progress, interfaces, and reporting with stakeholders.
  • Support construction and commissioning teams during execution.

Role Overview

The FPSO Lead ICSS Instrument Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating all Instrumentation and Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS) engineering activities for a major FPSO development project during the detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up preparation phases.

The position ensures that all ICSS and Instrumentation deliverables comply with Company specifications, project requirements, international standards, HSE regulations, schedule, budget, and operational objectives while managing interfaces with multiple engineering disciplines and EPC contractors.

Key Responsibilities
ICSS & Instrumentation Engineering
  • Lead all ICSS and Instrumentation engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure consistency, operability, flexibility, and optimization of ICSS and Instrumentation systems.
  • Verify compliance with Company specifications, project requirements, applicable standards, and safety regulations.
  • Minimize design changes through proactive technical support and timely engineering decisions.
  • Review technical documentation including:
    • P&IDs
    • Instrument Indexes
    • Instrument Data Sheets
    • Hook-up drawings
    • Layouts
    • Cabling drawings
    • Material selection
    • Instrument sizing
  • Supervise EPC Contractor activities related to ICSS and Instrumentation.
  • Monitor engineering progress, planning, costs, interfaces, and reporting.
  • Manage technical interfaces between Instrumentation and:
    • Process Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • HVAC
    • Technical Safety
    • Architectural disciplines
    • Other project packages
  • Participate in vendor meetings and technical reviews.
  • Attend Pre-FATs, FATs, and integrated FATs (iFATs).
  • Review technical queries, deviations, and waiver requests.
  • Promote cost-effective engineering solutions and design optimization.
  • Support construction activities related to ICSS and Instrumentation systems.
  • Review construction deliverables and verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in site inspections and construction follow-up.
  • Prepare for commissioning and support commissioning teams during execution.
  • Witness factory acceptance testing for field instruments and instrumentation packages where required.
Technical Leadership
  • Act as the Company's focal point for Instrumentation and ICSS engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance to EPC Contractors and vendors.
  • Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Report engineering progress, technical issues, quality concerns, and schedule impacts to the Engineering Manager.
  • Support engineering change management and project technical reviews.
  • Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
HSE Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Instrumentation and ICSS systems are designed in accordance with applicable safety standards.
  • Participate in construction safety observations and report unsafe conditions.
  • Support safe execution during engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
Qualifications
Education
  • Chartered Engineer or Engineering Degree specializing in:
    • Instrumentation
    • Automation
    • Process Control
    • ICSS
    • ESD
    • Fire & Gas Systems
Experience
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Instrumentation and ICSS engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Extensive experience with FPSO or offshore production facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Field Instrumentation
    • Process Control Systems
    • Emergency Shutdown (ESD)
    • Fire & Gas Systems
    • Detailed Engineering
    • EPC project execution
  • Experience supervising EPC Contractors and major equipment vendors.
