SeaOwl Group seeks an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineering Lead for FPSO projects. You will direct the rotating equipment scope through detailed design and procurement, supervise EPC contractor design, and ensure interface management across disciplines to meet schedule and safety requirements.

This senior role requires extensive experience in rotating equipment on oil & gas projects, with FATS, vendor coordination, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering.
  • Experience with detailed design reviews and vendor coordination.
  • Experience with FATs and technical bid evaluations.
  • Fluent in English; French a plus.

MISSIONS / SERVICE DIMENSIONS
  • Lead and coordinate the Rotating equipment scope and deliverables of the project during the detailed design and procurement phases.
  • Supervise FPSO EPC Contractor design of relevant discipline and aid/support to pre-commissioning and commissioning/start-up preparation teams.
  • Ensure FPSO Rotating equipment and design consistency, optimization, operability and flexibility which implies interfaces management and leadership towards other packages.
  • Ensure that FPSO EPC design of rotating discipline complies with S.O.R., contract documentation, schedule, budget and safety practices.
  • Provide a close supervision and control of the Rotating equipment purchase orders execution by the main EPC CONTRACTOR, including relevant missions and visits to the Vendors and attendance to pre-FATs and i-FATs.
  • Avoid FPSO EPC Contractor stand-by/delays by prompt response to engineering queries or/and request for waiver (if any) and unexpected technical issues, by a proactive and proficient approach.
  • Minimize design change during the execution of the detailed design thus securing the schedule.
  • Promote & comply in all activities with applicable safety instructions and other company HSE rules.
ACTIVITIES
  • Supervise and control the detailed design activities by the main EPC Contractor, securing interfaces definition with the other disciplines such as process, technical safety, ICSS, HVAC, electrical, architectural and with the other work packages of the PLANT.
  • Detailed Design review: Produce comment in due time, explain to Contractor and follow up the implementation. Duly and timely review of engineering documents related to P&ID, Package instrumentation, field instruments (incl. Material selection, sizing, hookup, layouts, cabling, etc.).
  • Review and propose answer to possible technical queries related to his/her discipline.
  • Monitor Rotating discipline studies during engineering (technical, costs, planning, interfaces, reporting).
  • Coordinate Interfaces Across Disciplines: Ensure proper interface management between rotating equipment and other disciplines (process, HVAC, electrical, safety), and across work packages
  • Meeting: keep regular and good quality communication with his/her counterpart(s) on Contractor’s side and put in place technical meetings to follow up progress, explain main comments, and provide guidance etc... Challenge the Contractor, to monitor and promote cost saving solutions in the design. Promote alternatives for Rotating equipment design to optimize work and schedule.
  • Reporting to Engineering Manager with regards to his/her discipline: main technical issue, area of concern, progress, quality etc… Propose mitigation measures when drift is noticed.
  • Assist Engineering Manager with review of possible change orders, planning constraints etc when related to his/her discipline, project technical reviews, etc
  • Ensure that design modifications are correctly followed up / implemented by EPC Contractor.
  • Witness / Participate in the reception and/or FATs for field instruments, packages (when necessary, e.g. valves etc).
  • Endorse the EPSCC contractor construction deliverables, ensuring that they meet project requirements and standards.
  • Main actor for the supervision of CONTRACTOR for rotating equipment selection, design, installation and hook up in relation and other discipline engineer.
  • Ensure / verify EPC contractor provides adequate as-built drawings upon equipment/package after FAT.
  • During Construction activity, participate to the follow up of construction activities.
  • Involve him/herself in safety aspects of the construction and report any anomalies noticed on site, when related to his/her discipline. Propose remedial action.
  • Ensure that the design of installations meets the requirements of the Contract and the local codes, standards and regulation.
  • Contribute to improving the project lessons learnt and personnel skills.
  • Prepare for commissioning phase and participate with commissioning team to the supervision.
CONTEXT & ENVIRONMENT
  • The Venus FPSO will operate in ultra-deepwater at roughly 3,000 m and is designed to process 160,000 bbl./d of oil with advanced systems to manage large volumes of associated gas, which will be re-injected to maintain reservoir pressure. The unit will be permanently spread-moored using a 16-line mooring system, engineered to ensure station-keeping in relatively harsh Atlantic conditions. The development includes up to 40 subsea wells tied back to the FPSO via the subsea architecture.

DURATION / LOCATION
  • Starting date: October 2026 (subject to FID)
  • Duration: 1 year to 4 years after FPSO contract Award
  • Renewable: Yes
  • Location: Between 1 and 2 years in Paris – France, up to 18 months in Singapore, up to 18 months in Geoje – South Korea.
  • Status: Residential
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering, including at least 3 years on FPSO or similar oil & gas projects
  • Proven involvement in detailed design, including review of engineering documents, vendor packages, and interface management
  • Experience with Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), technical bid evaluations, and vendor coordination during engineering phase
  • Solid knowledge of API, ISO, ASME and other international standards
  • Ability to support technical audits, HAZOPs, and design reviews with multidisciplinary teams
  • Exposure to commissioning and pre-commissioning activities, including punch list clearance and system completion
  • Fluent in English. French being a plus.
