Airswift is seeking a FPSO Lead Instrument ICSS for a major offshore project. You will lead ICSS and instrumentation activities across detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases, coordinating with process safety, HVAC, electrical and architectural teams.

The role requires extensive field instrumentation expertise, a Chartered Engineer qualification in instrumentation, and fluent English.

Responsabilités

  • Lead and coordinate the ICSS and instrumentation scope and deliverables during detailed design and procurement phases.
  • Supervise EPC contractor design activities for the discipline and support pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up preparation.
  • Ensure design consistency, operability, flexibility and optimisation across ICSS and instrumentation deliverables.
  • Manage interfaces with other disciplines and work packages including process, technical safety, HVAC, electrical and architectural teams.
  • Review engineering documentation including P&IDs, package instrumentation, field instruments, material selection, sizing, hook-up, layouts and cabling.

Job Title:

FPSO Lead Instrument ICSS

Duration:

1 year to 4 years after FPSO contract award

Schedule:

Residential, permanently based in EPC contractor premises, frequent mission aboard

Location:

Between 1 and 2 years in Paris, France; up to 18 months in Singapore; up to 18 months in Geoje, South Korea

This opportunity supports a major FPSO development in the oil and gas sector, with responsibility for ICSS and instrumentation activities during detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning preparation. The role offers involvement in a complex ultra-deepwater project with strong interface management across process, technical safety, HVAC, electrical and architectural disciplines. This position is suited to professionals with deep expertise in instrumentation, automation, process control, ESD and F&G within EPC project environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate the ICSS and instrumentation scope and deliverables during detailed design and procurement phases.
  • Supervise EPC contractor design activities for the discipline and support pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up preparation.
  • Ensure design consistency, operability, flexibility and optimisation across ICSS and instrumentation deliverables.
  • Manage interfaces with other disciplines and work packages including process, technical safety, HVAC, electrical and architectural teams.
  • Review engineering documentation including P&IDs, package instrumentation, field instruments, material selection, sizing, hook-up, layouts and cabling.
  • Provide timely technical comments, explain requirements to the contractor and follow through on implementation.
  • Respond to technical queries and support resolution of unexpected technical issues and waiver requests.
  • Monitor discipline studies covering technical scope, planning, costs, interfaces and reporting.
  • Maintain effective communication with contractor counterparts and support technical meetings to review progress, comments and guidance.
  • Promote cost-saving and schedule optimisation solutions within ICSS and instrumentation design activities.
  • Report key technical issues, progress, quality concerns and mitigation actions to the Engineering Manager.
  • Assist with review of change orders, planning constraints and project technical reviews related to the discipline.
  • Ensure design modifications are properly followed up and implemented by the EPC contractor.
  • Witness or participate in inspections, reception activities and FATs for field instruments and packages where required.
  • Review construction deliverables and verify they meet project requirements and standards.
  • Support supervision of instrument selection, hook-up, cabling design and installation activities.
  • Verify the provision of adequate as-built drawings following equipment and package FAT activities.
  • Participate in construction follow-up activities and report discipline-related anomalies observed on site.
  • Ensure installations meet contract requirements as well as applicable local codes, standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to lessons learned activities and support continuous improvement of project delivery and technical capability.
Required Education & Certifications:
  • Chartered Engineer qualification with specialisation in instrumentation, automation, process control, ESD and F&G (Required)
Required Experience:
  • 15 years of professional experience
  • Extensive experience of field instrumentation
  • Detailed experience of operating and control philosophy on oil and gas projects
  • Experience within detailed design and EPC project environments
Required Skills:
  • Strong technical capability in instrumentation, automation and integrated control and safety systems
  • Ability to manage multidisciplinary interfaces across engineering packages
  • Knowledge of engineering document review, including P&IDs, package instrumentation, hook-up, layouts and cabling
  • Experience supporting FAT activities, construction follow-up and commissioning preparation
  • Fluent English
Preferred Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • French language capability
