Mistral is seeking a Field HW Engineer to support one of France’s largest GPU/CPU clusters. You will understand end-to-end systems, perform complex interventions, and guide L1 engineers on site—without direct line management.

This is an on-site, multi-site field role with mobility across the Paris area. You will work hands-on across compute, storage, interconnect and cooling, driving reliability and scale while collaborating with the Hardware Ops team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data center/server hardware or L2/L3 hardware support in production (HPC/AI/Cloud).
• End-to-end hardware expertise across CPU/memory/PCIe, NICs, PSUs, drives, network and cooling.
• Diagnostics depth: analyze BMC/IPMI logs, Linux logs, crashes; perform root-cause analysis.
• Safety and discipline: impeccable ESD/LOTO/PPE habits; auditable work.
• Willingness to travel between sites (Paris area or nearby regions, occasionally in Europe or US).

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute vendor-level or multi-node interventions with risk assessment and rollback; coordinate with vendors.
• Read system indicators and logs to identify root causes across compute, storage, interconnect, cooling.
• Coach L1 engineers during live operations and ensure safe practices.
• Develop and improve SOPs/checklists; build small automation (Python/Bash) for ops tasks.
• Ensure audit-ready tickets, evidence and change traces.
• Plan spares strategy and track failure trends; drive proactive vendor actions.
