IMI plc in France seeks a Field Application Engineer to translate customer needs into practical automation solutions. You will work with customers, sales and engineering colleagues, developing tailored technical proposals and supporting long-term success.

This remote-friendly role involves visits to Paris/Collégien offices and regular travel across France (1–2 days per week). Fluent English and French required; CAD skills and product knowledge a plus.

• Degree in a technical field as listed.
• Experience in application engineering or a customer-facing engineering role.
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD or Inventor).

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Field Application Engineer, you will help customers solve technical challenges by developing practical application and automation solutions. Working closely with customers, sales teams, and engineering colleagues, you will translate requirements into effective solutions, provide technical guidance, and support long-term customer success. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with regular customer interaction in a dynamic industrial environment.

Location: France, Paris/Collégien and remote.

Travel: Regular travel within France to support customers and business activities. Expect 1-2 days a week of travel. Most of the other days you will spend at our offices in Paris/Collégien.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand customer requirements and develop tailored technical solutions.
• Select products, configure systems, and prepare technical proposals and documentation.
• Create CAD drawings, bills of materials, and technical specifications.
• Support customer meetings and provide expert technical advice.
• Partner with Sales and Key Account Managers to drive customer success.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing solutions and introduce additional products.
• Assess solution feasibility and support validation activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience in application engineering, technical support, or a similar customer-facing engineering role.
• Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD or Inventor.
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work across multiple teams.
• Fluent in English & French
• Willingness to travel within France - including occasional overnights.
