Job summary

YAI in New York, NY, is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional for evenings (Sun–Thu, 3pm–11pm). You will assist individuals with daily living activities, provide emotional support, manage medications, and maintain documentation in an electronic health record system.

The role emphasizes person-centered care and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Qualifications include 18+ years, SCIP-R within 1 year, and CPR/AMAP certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including lifting up to 25 pounds and assisting with transfers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation and billing.
• Empathy, patience, and compassion in interactions with individuals.
• Willingness to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to operate with professional relationships aligned to YAI's mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and build positive relationships.
• Assist individuals to maximize strengths and meet personal goals.
• Supervise, protect and care for individuals, following program guidelines.
• Ensure health, safety, and cleanliness of the therapeutic environment.
• Support with ADLs, meals, medications, and transportation as needed.
• Maintain and document data in electronic health records and paperwork.
• Participate in team meetings and follow Behavior Support Plans.
• Respond to crises per policy, and complete required trainings and certifications.
