The U.S. Mission in France is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Engineering Inspector (Construction) position in the Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) section in Marseille. As a key member of the OBO construction management team, you will play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality diplomatic facilities around the world. This role offers hands‑on experience at the intersection of engineering, quality assurance, and international construction management.
Contract Type: Permanent Appointment (Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period)
Travel Required: Occasional local travel to construction sites and project locations

Security Clearance: Non‑Sensitive‑Low Risk Public Trust security clearance required. All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be required to undergo a pre‑employment medical exam. Candidates must be able to begin working within twelve weeks upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications, or their candidacy may end.
Additional Note: Employees hired at a training grade must complete 52 weeks of successful performance at the training grade to be eligible for the next grade, regardless of the experience level at entry on duty.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications. Ability to identify construction deficiencies and verify compliance with engineering requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with contractor personnel and project management staff. Ability to prepare clear written inspection reports and documentation. Ability to perform field inspections and observe construction activities in a construction environment.
