Port of Portland is seeking a PDX Maintenance Electrician to keep the airport’s electrical supply and airfield lighting operational across graveyard and swing shifts. The role covers maintenance of power, lighting control, fire alarms, UPS, generators, and related infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of four years of PLC-based control experience, a general or plant journeyman license, and the ability to obtain a security badge.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years knowledge of PLC-based control systems.
• General Journeyman or Plant Journeyman license.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a Security Badge at PDX or other Port facilities with certain designations.

Responsabilités

• Maintain Electrical supply throughout the Airport systems including but not limited to pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators.
• Trouble-shoot electrical and electronic controls, including relay logic, PLC programming.
• Respond to equipment malfunction.
• Work shifts as required (graveyard/swing).

PDX Maintenance Electrician ( Graveyard/Swing Shift )

From ground power units to airfield lighting, the PDX Maintenance Electricians keep the lights on at PDX. The successful candidate will maintain the electrical supply throughout the airport by replacing and repairing when needed. This includes maintaining the lighting on the airfields!

Hours are set by seniority shift bid per the labor agreement. Shifts may include one weekend day; the successful candidate must be available to work a set day, swing, or graveyard shift. Most likely, the successful candidate will work a graveyard or swing shift: Wednesday - Saturday. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Essential Job Duties

• Maintain Electrical supply throughout the Airport systems including but not limited to pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators.
• Conduct maintenance of electrical distribution systems ranging in voltages from 15kV.
• Trouble-shoot electrical and electronic controls, including relay logic, PLC programming.
• Respond to equipment malfunction.

Minimum Qualifications

• (Required) Four (4) years knowledge of PLC-based control systems.
• Or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
• (Preferred) Electronic schooling in controllers, data-gathering, and/or solid-state controls.

License or Certifications

• (Required) General Journeyman or Plant Journeyman license.
• (Required) Maintain a valid state driver's license.
• (Required) Ability to obtain a Security Badge at PDX or other Port facilities with certain designations.
• (Preferred) Class B commercial driver's license at time of hire.
• (Required) Or the ability to obtain one within the probationary period.
• *All CDL training costs and licensing fees will be paid for by the Port of Portland.
