Job summary

Octopus Energy Group seeks a Project Electrical Engineer to own first-of-a-kind power projects, including private wire, behind-the-meter generation, MV/HV connections and data centre power. You lead from concept through energisation, managing budget, consultants, and external partners.

You’ll coordinate design reviews, grid interface, and project controls, while delivering complex, multi-discipline infrastructure with a strong focus on risk and schedule discipline. UK-wide travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in electrical or power systems engineering.
• 5+ years delivering energy or infrastructure projects with MV/HV scope.
• Experience with substations, networks, industrial plants or data centres.
• Budget ownership on development or pre-construction projects.
• GB/European grid connection knowledge from offer to energisation.
• Willingness to travel and hold a UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Own the programme and development budget from concept to energisation.
• Manage electrical concept design, one-line diagrams, and switchgear layouts.
• Lead grid interface with DNO/TO/NESO; coordinate ICP/IDNO tasks.
• Oversee capex inputs, value engineering, and sequencing of operations.
• Act as accountable owner with external parties and cross-disciplinary teams.
