Magellium Artal Group is seeking a Development Engineer for the Ground Segment Imaging – Image Processing Facility. You will implement data processing pipelines for the FLEX mission and collaborate with scientists to optimize workflows, validate results, and prepare technical documentation.
The role involves contributing to architecture discussions and proposals within the Earth Observation program. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software development, strong algorithms background, and
Magellium Artal Group, with its 300 employees, specializes in the remote sensing data value chain (from satellite or drone sensors to their use in Earth observation systems and services, mapping, and geointelligence) and promotes expertise in space technologies, software, signal processing, and geomatics.
As part of its Earth observation activities, Magellium is involved in major programs led by space agencies and other institutions. Magellium is recognized by its customers for its scientific expertise in many fields, ranging from measurement physics to downstream applications. The Earth observation projects entrusted to us by our customers involve, in particular, the implementation of scientific processing chains for data acquired by satellites.
These processing chains, whether prototypes or operational, are developed with a view to integration into the ground segments of satellite missions. The specificity of these processes lies in the combined mastery of scientific or algorithmic remote sensing techniques and the methodological, organizational, and IT engineering of processing chains in an environment often constrained by robustness and performance requirements.
We are hiring a software engineer for the Ground Segments team within Magellium’s “Earth Observation” unit.
You will begin working on the FLEX Disc project for ESA as part of the Image Processing Facility development team, implementing the mission’s data processing pipelines. The FLEX mission aims to provide researchers with new data to better understand vegetation dynamics on a global scale.
As such, your main missions include :
You will contribute to activities that complement the project you are starting on. You will be involved in the design and architecture of processing chains and/or in the development of technical proposals in response to requests for proposals.
You have at least five years of proven experience in software development. You have a strong understanding of algorithms. You are passionate about the space sector and, ideally, have experience in the field of space ground segments.
You have a good command of written and spoken English. This allows you to read and write documentation and to discuss and present topics fluently.
At Magellium Artal Group, diversity and inclusion are central to how we operate and are deeply rooted in our values. We respect the diversity of our employees—their experiences, backgrounds, and disabilities—and provide equal opportunities for all.
Magellium Artal Group has over 26 years' experience in data engineering, imaging and IT technologies. We use innovation and know-how to meet our customers' needs, even the most specific and complex.
