Description du poste

This role within the "Earth Observation" unit involves leading and executing studies and projects focused on measurement physics — specifically in radiative transfer, atmospheric correction, atmospheric parameter inversion, and in-flight radiometric calibration — applied to multispectral and hyperspectral sensors.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Conducting scientific studies and prototyping solutions

  • Analyzing and defining methods and algorithms, and designing scientific processing chains

  • Utilizing and mastering tools and models, such as inverse models and radiative transfer models

  • Preparing technical documentation, including reports, specifications, manuals, and scientific publications

  • Presenting results in project meetings and at scientific conferences

  • Leading and maintaining thematic relationships with research laboratories, French and European partners, and industry stakeholders to foster collaboration

  • Identifying and proposing new development opportunities

  • Performing bibliographic research and technology watch

  • Leading projects or studies within the relevant domains

  • Contributing to responses for calls for tenders

PhD holder, with a strong academic background and at least 3 years of experience in Earth observation, specifically in measurement physics (radiative transfer, atmospheric corrections, atmospheric parameter inversion) applied to multispectral and hyperspectral optics.

Proven experience in a scientific laboratory involved in Earth observation for space missions, with experience in publishing and presenting at scientific conferences, is a real advantage.

Required Skills :
  • Strong foundation in applied mathematics, statistics, and image processing

  • In-depth knowledge of remote sensing, space observation, particularly optical missions

  • Expertise in measurement physics, atmospheric physics, geophysical measurements, along with their applications

  • Statistical methods and uncertainty calculations for satellite data calibration and multi-mission or satellite/in-situ data comparison

  • Knowledge in radiative transfer models

  • Experience with geophysical parameter retrieval from spaceborne data

  • Autonomy in implementing high-performance computing tools for studies and prototyping in an industrial environment

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Matlab, and IDL

Additional Skills :
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills

  • Ability to write technical and scientific documents in English

  • Adaptability and willingness to quickly learn new technical subjects

  • Creativity, curiosity, rigor, and autonomy

  • Passion for scientific domains

  • Interest in Earth sciences and environmental studies

  • Strong teamwork skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, clarity, and reliability

  • Sense of responsibility and commitment
