Mercor seeks researchers in fluid mechanics to work on high-level physics problems, focusing on convection stability in Rayleigh–Benard and porous media systems. Candidates should have published work in the field and be proficient in LaTeX, Python, and Jupyter.

The role is remote, part-time (10 hours/week) over 8–10 weeks, with compensation of $80–$110 per hour depending on depth of subdomain match, starting immediately.

Qualifications

• PhD in fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering or closely related field.
• Publications on convection stability (3–5 representative papers with DOIs/arXiv IDs)
• English proficiency at B2 or higher, including written reasoning.

Responsabilités

• Tackle research-level convection stability problems in Rayleigh–Benard and Darcy-type systems.
• Publish and review work, ensuring methods and results are clearly documented.
• Contribute to problem creation, solution, and verification tasks with a subfield focus.
