Mercor seeks researchers for high-level convection stability work. The role focuses on publishing and solving research-grade physics problems, with written reasoning integral to each assignment.

You may create or review problems across Rayleigh-Benard and porous-media convection, using LaTeX, Python, and Jupyter to present clear, reproducible results. Expect 10 hours per week over 8–10 weeks, remote and asynchronous.

Qualifications

• PhD in fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering or closely related field.
• Published work on convection stability specifically.
• Verifiable publication record with 3–5 representative papers.
• Working proficiency with LaTeX, Python and Jupyter; VS Code familiarity valuable.
• English language at B2 or above, including written reasoning.
